Jennifer Turnbull

Outreach Coordinator

Jennifer Turnbull’s artistic practice is rooted in the belief that environmental and racial justice are inextricably linked, and that blackness, indigeneity, and wealth equity are integral to the protection of Mother earth.

Jennifer began her dance practice as a child layering training in ballet, jazz, modern, West African, Hip Hop and social dance throughout her youth into adulthood. Today their full artistic practice focuses on site-specific dance performance, participatory pedestrian ensemble, and experimental film within the context of natural bodies of water and their surrounding habitats, integrating written and spoken word, sound and projection. Central to all projects is the question: How can this art bring the people to water and water to the people?

Turnbull has co led the production of parades, live interactive performances, and created movement for direct-action and protest, site-specific to city streets and parks with Spiral Q. https://www.jenniferturnbull.me/
