Collaborator, Performer

Chloe Marie Newton

Chloe Marie is a performer and choreographer based on the Lenni Lenape land, also known as Philadelphia. Her artistic journey began in high school at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, where she received rigorous training in ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and performed works by choreographers including Donald McKayle, Christopher Huggins, and José Limón. In 2013, Chloe continued her dance education at the University of the Arts, performing in works by Doug Varone, Yazmeen Godder, Sidra Bell, Faustin Linyekula, Jesse Zaritt, and others. Since earning her degree in 2017, she has been deeply engaged in collaboration and solo projects exploring identity, community, and the human experience. In 2024, she premiered her solo Afraid of the Abstract at The Judson Church as part of Black Aesthetics, and recently created her first evening-length work “For Now” and presented it through Philadelphia Dance Projects. She has contributed her work to dance films and music videos-and teaches dancers of all ages. With each endeavor, Chloe continues to push creative boundaries, hopefully making a meaningful impact in the Philadelphia dance landscape.
