Fail Better & Other Works is a tryptyche of subtle worlds, awake performing and sensual formality inspired by the haunting and absurd work of Samuel Beckett’s Act Without words I: a mime for one player and was created in close collaboration with the sound, set, and lighting designers, and director Jennifer Childs. In the duet, Parallel You, subtle gesture slips toward expansive partnering before settling in the soft cradle of gaze. Loops of conciousness match cycles of momentum as two bodies navigate and unusual journey through space and time. In T43, a trio of women build a tight pattern of kinetic rules, each testing the limits of these physical structures, continually rocking the interpersonal balance of the group.
“Fail Better was an enchantment…simply one of the most beautiful movement pieces imaginable. No slick tricks, no cheap thrills, this lady is making movement art.”
-Janet Anderson, The Philadelphia City Paper
