The Garden will premiere at Power Plant Productions (formerly known as SMOKE) in Old City Philadelphia this Fall.
Preview performances: September 13-21
Premiere performances: November 1-17
The Garden invites the audience to navigate the shifting terrain of a dance from the inside. Oscillating between viewer and participant, six audience members at a time embark on an intimate and expansive journey inspired by Italo Calvino’s “Invisible Cities”, and Luis Borges’ short story “The Garden of Forking Paths”.
We are honored and humbled to announce that NCDC has received a John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Award, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge. This matching grant award helps us to mark the beginning of a two-year creative process that will result in a new immersive event: The Garden, a performance installation inspired by Italo Calvino’s novel Invisible Cities.
Please stay tuned for more information about the creative process and how we will be inviting you to be a part of it.

Nichole Canuso Dance Company (NCDC) creates dances that celebrate the awkwardness, humor and surprise in human experience. Using subtle gesture, explosive movement, clowning, unconventional audience participation and interactive design, NCDC focuses on developing fully investigated and legible hybrid dance projects. These works exist at the crossroads of movement, visual art and theater.
